FOKABS at UNFCCC COP 23

Bonn – Germany, 6-17 November 2017. FOKABS supported a number of events and countries during the 23rd Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Climate Convention (UNFCCC).

Prior to COP 23, FOKABS experts supported the 10 COMIFAC members states to prepare and submit 3 positions on SBSTA Article 6 related to cooperative approaches, sustainable development mechanism and non-market approach as well as 4 positions on APA related to mitigation, adaptation, transparency and global stock take.

During COP 23 FOKABS experts, on behalf of the 10 COMIFAC countries, led and followed negotiations on APA, Article 6 and climate finance. FOKABS expert briefed and prepared Ministers on key negotiation issues of interest to the Central African region. On behalf of the African Group (AGN), FOKABS expert also led and coordinated REDD+ negotiations on the coordination of support and REDD+ voluntary meetings.
